Marigold
( Calendula officinalis )
It is an annual herb with bright orange, daisy like flowers, it has become naturalized throughout temperate regions of the world. Marigold blends well with most floral and citrus oils. Do not confuse it with African Marigold ( Tagetes ) which is toxic. Marigold has a variety of historical uses, treating anything from snake bites to toothaches. The famous herbalists Nickolas Culpeper and John Gerard called the herb a comforter of the heart and spirits. A soothing anti in inflammatory, antiseptic, and gentle astringent, calendula infused oil is good for dry skin, chapped skin, eczema,diaper rash, cracked nipples,varicose veins. It helps to stop bleeding and has valuable wound healing properties. It is a first aid kit essential for cuts, grazes, wounds and insect bites. It has affinity with the female reproductive system and has properties which helps to regulate the menstrual cycle. It can also be a base for blending other essential oils.
